Zimbabwe Olympic Committee Commission Appointments 2021

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee is proud to announce the following commission appointments by the ZOC President Mr. Thabani Gonye.

This is in accordance with ARTICLE 25:1 of the ZOC CONSTITUTION “The President shall, after consultation with the executive board, appoint Commissions and or working groups to undertake special functions for a specified period in line with the strategic focus of ZOC and the IOC”. These are Transitional Structures towards the 2021 – 2025 Strategic Plan Development later this year.  

1. The Audit and Finance Commission will be Chaired by Mr. Godfrey Tichakunda Sunguro
2. The Legal, Membership and Standards Compliance Commission will be chaired by Mr. Ringisayi Mapondera

The remaining commissions have been divided into clusters. Each Vice President has been assigned clusters to mentor and is also responsible for performance Monitoring and Evaluation.

1^st Vice President Mr Fredreck Ndlovu will head the SPORT, TECHNICAL, DEVELOPMENT, CLEAN ATHLETES & LEARNING cluster made up of the following commissions:

1. The Athletes Commission Chaired by Olympian Mr. Curtbeth Nyasango.
2. The Technical and Development Commission chaired by Mr. Rick Fulton (Cooption)
3. The Sport Education, Leadership Growth Commission chaired by Mr. Tendayi Tagara.
4. Systems, Digitalization, Technology and Research commission will be chaired by Ms. Chipo Zumburani.
5. The Medical, Sports Science, Protection of Clean Athletes Commission will in the interim be chaired by the CEO Stephen Mudawarima but there will be Co-option for the substantive Chairperson.

2nd Vice President Mrs. Letitia Chipandu will head the COMMERCIAL + CORPORATE, PEOPLE & EQUITY& OVEP Cluster made up of the following commissions:

1. Media, Communication Public Relations and Diplomacy Commission will be chaired by Ms. Charmaine Chamboko.
2. The Gender, Equity and Diversity Commission will be chaired by Ms. Merit Thokozile Munzwembiri.
3. Olympic Values Promotion (Olympism), Olympians, Peace, Environment & Safe Sports will be chaired by Olympian Mr. Abel Chimukoko.
4. Sport for All and Volunteers Commission will be chaired by Mr. Stonard Mapfumo.
5. Human Resources (Human Capital) commission will in the in the interim be chaired by the Treasurer Mr. Godfrey Sunguro until Co-option of a substantive Chairperson.
6. The Marketing and Resource Mobilization commission will be filled in by Cooption. In the interim the CEO is directly responsible for this commission until Co-option of a substantive Chairperson.
